B O N O B O - natural native cosmetics for a woman who knows her worth.
BONOBO was launched in 2014 when the brand's creator, Kristi, had a personal need to find as clean and natural cosmetic products as possible. After the birth of her first child, Kristi's skin became particularly sensitive, which ultimately led to the desire to make self-made creams, the ingredients of which were exactly known and for which you could make informed choices.
As being in touch with nature is a heart-warming theme for Kristi, she came up with an idea to combine creams with plants that grow wild in Estonia. This flashing idea led Kristi to study with Irje Karjus, an Estonian medicine woman and herbatics promoter. Getting to know this field, Kristi realized that Bonobo and Estonian plants would surely begin to work together.
Gradually, the creams found their way to her friends as gifts - they were fascinated. Their positive response gave her strength and motivation to move forward with the project. When studying at Irje, Kristi came across Piia Kärssin. Now she prepares miraculous facial tonics for Bonobo on the basis of hand-picked plants and spring water. The spirited Sophie Dragunevits is a young lady who looks and acts like a hippie, and her particularly soft and smoothly soothing body ointments are also in the Bonobo's product family now.
The name Bonobo originates from Africa, where the bonobo apes live. They are one of the few animal species living based on the principle of love and harmony. They discuss conflicts in their community and always try to find a solution that suits all parties. At the same time, bonobo apes are the closest animal species to humans. Hence, the observation that the archetypal human nature is also based on the principle of love and harmony.
The only animal that has been near the whole process is Kristi's cat, who at times was peeping at what was going on in the test stage. Bonobo's plans and dreams are great. Equally great is the desire to use power herbs growing in Estonian nature more and more in Bonobo's activities.
